6d Misperfed Block of 4
How to account for the irregular and misplaced perforations?I believe that the sheet was perforated from the top down (inverted). As the comb forms a "U" around each stamp, this sheet slipped and did not move as far as intended. Thus the middle and bottom perforations of this block became shifted 'upwards'. The sheets were usually perforated in a pack of 5 to 6 and this would have been one of the lower sheets. Afterwards, someone (collector or dealer) re-perfed the wing-margin.
