| In State 1 (the first printings), the 5 and 7 o'clock ray flaws exist. In addition the die dot is present and there is evidence of a basal shift. With the first repair (State 2), the die dot is absent and there are only slight projections at the base. Additionally there is now a dot in the "O" of "ONE" and a mark in the "Y" of "PENNY". The upper right side is weakened, and the check letters are thinned. The ray flaws take on the Plate 1b characteristics. |
![]() | The second repair to this plate did not affect "RK" In the third repair ( the second of this impression - State 3) the Re-Entry was not coincident and there are marks in the top of the S.W. square similar to an HGL. The upper left network is slightly distorted and the right side has been restored. The lower left side has a scrape, and there are slight markings outside the sideline. The check letters are even thinner. The final (fourth) repair did not involve this impression. |
